Physiological effects of Piriformospora indica on boron toxicity in wheat
Wheat with and without the fungus, compared at rising boron levels to measure what the symbiosis actually protects.
Aim: To show how the root endophyte Piriformospora indica (Serendipita indica) changes the way wheat responds to boron toxicity.
Methods: Inoculated and uninoculated wheat plants are grown at increasing boron levels; growth, physiological measurements and the boron content of the tissue are compared to judge what the symbiosis protects against.
Scope: Carried out under the TÜBİTAK 1001 programme and completed in 2023.
