He works on plant nutrition, plant physiology and soilless agriculture, with nitrate monitoring and sensor validation at the centre of his research. His current work tests nitrate sensors in soil and in soilless cultivation under controlled greenhouse conditions, and checks how well the readings hold up as soil, moisture, nutrient supply and the plants themselves change.
He judges sensor performance through greenhouse experiments, soil and nutrient solution analyses, spectrophotometric nitrate measurements, ICP-OES and statistical analysis.
