Bahar Yıldız Kutman

Bahar Yıldız Kutman is an assistant professor at the Institute of Biotechnology of Gebze Technical University and co-directs the Plant Biotechnology, Physiology and Nutrition Lab. She took her bachelor’s degree and her doctorate in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering at Sabancı University, and worked at Konya Food and Agriculture University and at the University of California, Davis before joining GTÜ.

She has been a faculty member at the institute since 2015, headed the biotechnology department between 2017 and 2020, and served as the university’s coordinator for international relations between 2023 and 2025.

Her research covers plant biology and biotechnology, soilless and vertical farming, biostimulants and plant nutrition products, seed treatments and sustainable agriculture. Much of her work aims to turn laboratory findings into products and practices that growers can use.
