We met high school students on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science

On 11 February 2026, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Asst. Prof. Bahar Yıldız Kutman of our lab gave a talk for the day at Çayırova Girls’ Anatolian İmam Hatip High School. The talk, attended by 300 students, covered the contributions of women to science, the importance of gender equality and the struggles of women scientists.

Afterwards Bahar Yıldız Kutman and our research assistants Rıfat Buğra Bildiri, Hande Mutlu Durak and Burak Tunçbaş, helped by our undergraduate student Başak Ayyıldız, ran a laboratory activity showing the high school students how to extract pigments from plants. The students then used the colours from different plants on watercolour paper.
