The laboratory, greenhouse, growth chamber, analytical, field and vertical farming facilities that let us run experiments at every scale, from nutrient solution to the field and the vertical farm.

Plant Biotechnology, Physiology and Nutrition Laboratory

Our main laboratory at the Institute of Biotechnology is where samples are prepared, spectrophotometric measurements and wet chemical analyses are carried out, and controlled experiments are run in nutrient solution culture.

R&D Greenhouse

The Institute’s research greenhouse opened in October 2020. Controlled climate, irrigation and fertigation allow experiments all year round.

Plant Growth Chamber

Temperature, light and humidity are programmable in the walk-in growth chamber, where physiology and stress experiments run under fully controlled conditions.

Dr. İbrahim Bodur Test and Analysis Laboratory

In this laboratory, set up in 2021 for sustainable and traceable agriculture, macro- and micronutrients in plant, soil, substrate and water samples are measured by ICP-OES after microwave digestion.

Field Trial Site

Findings from the greenhouse and the growth chamber are tested under production conditions on GTÜ’s field trial site of about six decares. Field work is carried out in collaboration with the Çayırova Seed Certification and Testing Directorate.

Soilless Vertical Farming Facility

In the indoor vertical farming R&D unit set up on the GTÜ campus with Plant Factory, nutrient recipes for soilless vertical farming systems are developed and tested.
